About the Author
Amy grew up making snowmen during Utah winters. She learned to read at age four and has been reading and writing ever since. Amy is the author of If Picasso Painted a Snowman, If Da Vinci Painted a Dinosaur, and If Monet Painted a Monster. If she were to paint a snowman, she would paint with dots like George Seurat. Her favorite dinosaur is a stegosaurus. Amy wrote her first monster story in elementary school.
In addition to writing for children, Amy writes clean romances for grown readers. She loves capturing that feeling of falling in love. Her titles include A Lady Most Alluring (a Grimm Regency Tale) and Amidst Ruins and Remembrances (Victorians at the Beach).
Amy loves to travel and to spend time with her family. She is an avid board game player and has a deep appreciation for chocolate. She and her husband, illustrator/fine artist Greg Newbold, enjoy hiking, camping, visiting museums, and taking road trips. When not traveling, Amy enjoys exploring the world through books.
These are a few of my favorite things:
1) Chocolate of all kinds.
2) Pumpkin pie (as a child, I had pumpkin pie instead of birthday cake 2 years in a row).
3) Dabbling. I dabble in lots of things: guitar, piano, art, crocheting, knitting, and more. I am not skilled at any of it, but I have a lot of fun.
4) Birding, and adding new birds to my life list.
5) Being in the mountains. I am lucky enough to live at the foot of the Wasatch Mountain range in Utah, and I love to escape the summer heat and take a hike or have a cookout up in the canyons.
6) My favorite dinosaur is Stegosaurus.
7) I love Impressionist art. Since writing my art picture books, I have also become a big fan of the art of Alma Thomas and got to see many of her paintings in Washington, D.C.
8) I love watching sports including football, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, swimming, figure skating, and track & field.
9) I love traveling and have been to all the National Parks in Utah. I’ve been to 23 different states and 4 different countries. Some of my favorite trips include visits to Chaco Canyon, Hawaii, Paris, Jordan, and Disneyland.
10) I love movies! Star Wars movies, Cary Grant movies, romances like While You Were Sleeping, two different versions of Pride and Prejudice, and more.
Visiting Shakespeare and Company in Paris.
