3) Have a copy of the books? Read the artist biographies in the back of the books. Which artists had challenges in life? How did they handle those challenges? Do you have something in common with one of the artists? Which one?
4) Find a painting you like. Write a sentence or short poem to describe the painting. How does the painting make you feel? Your poem could rhyme, or it could be in another form. Try an acrostic poem - write the artist’s name vertically on a paper, and then for each letter of their name, write a line of your poem about them or their paintings. Or try writing a haiku: first line is five syllables, second line is seven syllables, third line is five syllables.
5) Draw a monster, dinosaur or snowman in your own style (or try the style of one of the artist in the books). Optional: submit your art on my contact page to be included in the “Art by Readers” gallery.
